    La Liga Round 29 Preview

    Almeria vs Villarreal
    Athletic vs Mallorca
    Real Betis vs Numancia
    Recreativo vs Sevilla
    Valladolid vs Barcelona
    Malaga vs Real Madrid
    Atletico Madrid vs Osasuna
    Espanyol vs Deportivo
    Valencia vs Getafe
    Sporting vs Racing

Barcelona visit Valladolid, a side they thumped 6-0 earlier in the season. Valladolid are safe from relegation and can be more than satisfied with their campaign, although they could be on the end of a beating here having had mixed form in March.

Real Madrid visit Malaga, a team who won just once in March and whose last match was a 6-0 thrashing (yeah, another one) at the hands of Barcelona. El Real have buried their Champions League disappointment with 11 wins in 12, and one wonders whether Malaga, at the business end of the season, are running out of steam. Some of their best players are being linked with moves away, which can hardly help matters.

Sevilla, who celebrated Fredi Kanoute signing a new contract this week, make the short trip to Huelva to play Recre, who are just a point off relegation and struggling for consistency. Sevilla on the other hand are in superb nick, with Jose Maria Del Nido justifying his decision to keep Manolo Jiminez on when things weren't as good. Villarreal are also in good touch, losing once in their last 7. They visit Almeria, who with the help of Uche & Negredo have pulled away from the drop although Hugo Sanchez's men aren't out of danger.

Espanyol, desperate to start winning, will have easier tasks than breaking down a stubborn Deportivo at the Motjuic. Numancia, hanging on for dear life, visit Betis where they could easily get 3 points; Depending on which Atletico Madrid turns up, Osasuna could either find themselves deeper in the mire or be out of the bottom three come Sunday evening. Valencia, who have finally received some good financial news, welcome Getafe - definitely in trouble - to the Mestalla while Sporting Gijon host Racing in what could be the worst game of the round.
