In a battle of two promoted sides the spoils where shared between Santo André and Barueri. The visitors went ahead when Val Baiano converted form the spot. Barueri were much the better side but the homeside salvaged a point 8 minutes from time when Marcel scrambled home the equaliser. Santos climbed to 8th after Paulo Lima's header claiming the only goal of the game with two minutes left against Sport. This came after Sport lost Weldon to what seemed a harsh red card on the hour. With the Maracanã unavailable Flamengo hosted Vitória at the Engenhão and took the lead in the 26th minute from Juan's sweet left foot strike. Vitória equalised on the hour through a header from Roger but Emerson's strike 7 minutes later put the "home" side ahead. Flamengo also had time to miss a penalty before Vanderson was dismissed for the visitors for use of the head before Kléberson joined him after a second yellow card in injury time.

Top versus bottom at the Mineirão as Atlético-MG hosted Botafogo and it was the home side who took the lead through a header from Éder Luís on the quarter hour. The lead though lasted 7 minutes when Juninho's marvellous 30 yard free kick found the back of the net. The result was enough to knock Atlético-MG off the top and lift Botafogo off the bottom. Grêmio got over their Libertadores exit with a comfortable win over Atlético-PR. The game was over within the first 10 minutes, Maxi López had the home side two up within 5 minutes and Gustavo Herrera added the third on 10 minutes. Rafael Moura pulled one back for Atlético-PR after 20 minutes but a second for Herrera four minutes from time wrapped things up. Cruzeiro, with one mind on the first leg of the Libertadores final in La Plata on Wednesday, fell to defeat at Goiás. Felipe's 21st minute free kick the difference between the sides. São Paulo's woes continued after they fell to defeat at Coritiba. Marcos Aurélio put the home side ahead with a great individual effort and then Ariel Nahuelpan doubled the advantage with a nice turn and strike two minutes into the second half. Internacional returned to the top of the table after a 2-0 win at Náutico. Andres D'Alessandro missed a first half penalty for Internacional before two second half strikes from Nilmar secured the points and an immediate bounce back from their Copa final defeat. Avaí fell to the bottom of the table after a 3-0 home defeat by Palmeiras. Obina put the Big Green ahead from the spot in the 27th minute and then he doubled the lead 7 minutes into the second half. Cleiton Xavier wrapped things up with a rasping drive form the edge of the box.

The final game of the round between Corinthiams and Fluminense takes place in São Paulo on Wednesday night and is scheduled to clash with the first leg of the Libertadores final.
