Internacional 3-0 Sport Recife
Atlético Miniero 1-1 Palmeiras
Inter returned form their successful trip to Japan after victory in the Sugura Bank Cup with a comfortable victory over Sport. Giuliano's neat turn and finish put Inter up just before half time and Sandro doubled the lead six minutes into the second half after his deflected shot beat Juliano in the Sport goal. Andres D'Alessandro wrapped things up 5 minutes from time after some poor goalkeeping from Juliano allowed this shot to go through his arms and into the net. Inter climb back to fourth in the table whilst Sport remain rooted at the bottom of the table.
The big game of the round was at the Mineirão as third placed Atlético-MG entertained table toppers Palmeiras. It was the home side who made the perfect start, Éder Luis taking advantage of a mistake in the Palmeiras defence and shooting past Marcos, who in truth made a right hash of stopping the shot. It took the league leaders half an hour to reply, Diego Souza with a mazy run and his cross was headed in at the back post by José Ortigoza. Marcos then redemmed himself with a great save and then Souza then hit the post for the Big Green. The drama wasn't done, as Atlético-MG were awarded a penalty but the former national goalkeeper Marcos rescued Palmeiras with a superb save from Renan Oliveira's penalty. Bruno then denied Cleiton Xavier and the point was enough to see Atlético climb to second and Palmeiras remain 4 points clear at the top.
