Nancy go top: Ligue 1 reviews

    Lorient 2-2 Montpellier
    Sochaux 2-3 Bordeaux
    Lens 2-0 Auxerre
    PSG 3-1 Le Mans
    Nancy 4-0 Monaco
    Lyon 1-0 Valenciennes
    Toulouse 3-1 St Etienne
    Boulogne 2-1 Grenoble
    Nice 1-1 Rennes
    Marseille 1-0 Lille

Troubled by relegation last season, Nancy have stormed out of the blocks in Usain Bolt fashion this term and their 4-0 home win over Monaco is the eye-catching result of round 2. Issiar Dia and an Andre Luiz penalty gave Les Chardons a two-goal lead at the break and two more, both from Paul Alo'o Efoulou wrapped up a comprehensive win. There are two other clubs with 100% records and no surprises for guessing Bordeaux and Marseille would be the pair that join Nancy at the top after two games. Bordeaux didn't have it all their own way in Montbéliard against Sochaux. Marouane Chamakh and Wendel put the champions two up, but American striker Charlie Davis pegged one back before Chamakh's second gave Bordeaux some breathing space. Davis grabbed a second in the last minute, but it wasn't enough. One goal, from Brandao, was enough for Marseille at home to Lille for whom Mathieu Debuchy was dismissed in the second half.

A single goal was enough for Lyon to beat Valenciennes, Bafetimbi Gomis heading his first goal since arriving from St Etienne. His old club were dismantled down in Toulouse. Though Emmanuel Riviere equalised Paulo Machado's opener, the second half belonged to Les Violets and goals from André-Pierre Gignac and Moussa Sissoko completed the job. Le Mans took a shock lead at the Parc des Princes in the capital where Thorstein Helstad opened the scoring. Mevlut Erding, a summer arrival from Sochaux, equalised on the half hour and the unfortunate Frédéric Thomas put through his own net to push PSG in front. Ludovic Giuly added a third late on to seal it.

Auxerre haven't go going yet and lost at promoted Lens for whom goals in each half, Kevin Monnet-Paquet and Abdoulrazak Boukari respectively, did the damage. Lorient and Montpellier shared four second-half goals in a lively game. Alberto Costa and Emir Spahic put Montpellier into a two-goal lead, but Kevin Gameiro pulled one back instantly before Laurent Koscielny squared it up in the last minute. Nice and Rennes also drew, Chaouki Ben Saada putting Nice ahead a minute from the break and an Asamoah Gyan penalty equalising. Rennes had Junichi Inamoto dismissed 13 minutes from time, but it ended square. Two Gregory Thil goals in the first half set Boulogne on their way to their first win since promotion against Grenoble. The Alpine side got one back shortly after the interval through Danijel Ljuboja, but Boulogne hung on for the three points.
